Paul Riccio - New York

by Xavier Speeleveld

Morbidus

by Xavier Speeleveld

The idea was to create a 1-minute video to create a character that was cute but some sort of disgusting at the same time, to put the counterpoint to the whole story. The aim of “Morbidus” is to be a colorful drama, an inflatable thought about the weight of creativity on individuals. Th eoutcome is weird but in a sense wonderfull. Enjoy!

The Moondoggies

Animated by Seattle artist Drew Christie, this video for "Empress of the North" for the band Moondoggies tells the story of a man losing something, finding it again, and then.. well.. you'll see. Source: http://preview.instantcinema.org/seat

REUBEN MARGOLIN

by Xavier Speeleveld

This suspended kinetic sculpture is operated by the dancers’ limbs. Like a marionette, the strings extend from the body to encourage the planar sculpture to stretch, compress, invert and ripple. The comparably manual, lo-fi nature of the approach just makes this all the more thrilling for me. Watch the video (below) – If you’re impatient, fast forward to the 1min mark to hit the epicentre of awesome.

Lelo

by Xavier Speeleveld

The overwhelming majority of existing products rely on just two senses: sight and touch. however, LELO believes it’s time to extend the possibilities of design by activating the senses of smell, taste and sound, with the goal of proving that true pleasure is multi-sensory.Applicants are encouraged to discover the vibrancy of pleasure through design, exploring all materials, possibilities of technology and what it really means to feel good. while LELO’s expertise is sensual pleasure, the company is in search of what other possibilities remain unexplored. In essence, the LELO design award provides a chance for designers to give a personal interpretation of pleasure that pushes sensory boundaries.

The Gold of The Andes

by Xavier Speeleveld

We are highly inspired by this story of The Inouie Brothers participating in The Chaccu, the Incan ceremony of solidarity, to harvest as the Incas believed the finest material created by Pacha Mama. In the eyes of the original inhabitants of the Andes the Vicuña animals were reincarnations of young maidens, rewarded with a coat of pure gold in return for giving life to their civilisation. They called it “The Gold Of The Andes”. Since 2004 Satoru and Kiyoshi Inoue, of Japanese heritage but born and raised in Copenhagen, have specialized in the finest knitwear, using Alpaca and Vicuña wool from the Andean Mountains of Peru. Through their many journeys to the Andean plateau, searching for the finest fibre in the world, The Inoue Brothers were fortunate enough to encounter a large variety of communities and extraordinary individuals. A pleasant endeavour finally brought them to the Puno region in southern Peru some 5 years after their first visit to South America. It was here where they met local anthropologist Alonso Burgos. He was amongst the pioneers who re-introduced the ancient Chaccu ceremony to the indigenous people as a socially engaging, sustainable model for community building.

Kim Pimmel 2

by Xavier Speeleveld

Compressed 03 continues my interest in telling stories through analog visual effects - everything in the film was made with physical materials and tools in my studio. By using frame by frame stop motion and time lapse techniques, fluid dynamics and magnetism are transformed into majestic explosions and seething storms.

Kim Pimmel

by Xavier Speeleveld

Ferrous printer toner particles floating on the surface of water are attracted by a magnet and align to the invisible magnetic field around them. The patterns and motions that result are strangely ordered and organized.
