Franz Erhard Walther

by Xavier Speeleveld

About Franz Walter. Now at the Kunstmuseum in Luzern.Mr. Walther is one of the precursors of relational aesthetics: that welter of participatory art forms that sprang up in the 1990s and emphasized social interaction above all else, especially art objects. Born in 1939 in Fulda, Germany, where he now lives again, he studied at the Dusseldorf Art Academy in the early 1960s, when Joseph Beuys, a precursor to the precursors, was teaching there. But his work is far less flamboyant than Beuys's , or that of some of his own students at the art academy in Hamburg. In a sense Mr. Walther has spent his career putting his own quiet, ego-free stamp on Beuys's notion of 'social sculpture'.

Victor Vasarely

by Joost Thurman

This summer Joost & myself visited the fantastic Vasarely museum in Aix en Provence. Vasarely is widely regarded as the father of Opt-Art.

He is a major master of 21th century art. His paintings are in the permanent collections of many important museums around the world. During the 1960s and 1970s his optical images became part of the popular culture, having deep impact on architecture, computer science, fashion, and the way we look at things in general.

Even though he achieved great fame he insisted on making his art accessible to everyone.

he inspired our tagline "fine art for all"

Raoul De Keyser

by Xavier Speeleveld

We deeply regret to announce Raoul De Keyser (1930-2012) has passed away on friday 5th, 2012.

De Keyser was one of the most famous abstract painters in Belgium.

For nearly fifty years, Raoul De Keyser has created subtly evocative paintings and works on paper which appear at

once straightforward and cryptic, abstract and figurative.
