Pikaplant Jar

by Xavier Speeleveld

Pikaplant Jar is a single, hand-picked blooming plant hermetically encased in a glass jar. It’s maintenance-free as water and nutrients are recycled in a self-sustaining biotope, resulting in a long-lasting blossom.

Adam Lister

by Xavier Speeleveld

Combining the deconstructed and minimal aesthetic of old-school video graphics with the rough and uneven textures more often seen in watercolour paintings, American painter Adam Lister creates engaging visual compositions that depict famous artworks and pop-culture characters. Inspired by the 8-bit graphics of the Atari and Nintendo game consoles he used to play as a child, Lister likes to use the principle of pixelated images as a guideline for his works. The resulting paintings are both enigmatic and familiar, funny and bittersweet, as if all our favourite sci-fi and fantasy movie characters are staring at us through a distorted, prismatic glass – but on second thought, isn’t that how childhood memories feel like in the first place?

Adam Lister was born in 1978 and is a resident of New York City. He has presented his work in various exhibitions across the USA and in London.

Lucyna Kolendo

by Xavier Speeleveld

Fascination with the body and fascination with the possibilities of preserving its images by means of photographic techniques have been creating an almost inextricable connection since Daguerre’s and Talbot’s times. Photography seems to objectivise what on the surface of a mirror is just a working hypothesis of existence, noticed ‒ often instinctively ‒ during the ritual morning toilet. A photo film frame gives to these fleeting glances optical density and at the same time provides them with a kind of “specific gravity”. These are not just “physical” categories, as sometimes this “specific gravity” assumes the proportions of the gravity of our existence, both beautiful and painful. At such point photography becomes one of the proofs of HUMAN EXISTENCE.

Lee JeeLoung

by Xavier Speeleveld

Since 2007,  Lee JeeYoung shoots the invisible. Whereas traditional photography submits extracts of reality to our eyes, the artist offers excerpts from her heart, her memory, or her dreams. Restrained by the inherent limits of the conventional photographic medium, she adds plastic creativity and theatrical performance to it, in order to blow life into her immense needs of expression, and interrogation.

BrettAmory

by Xavier Speeleveld

Born in Chesapeake, Virginia in 1975, Brett Amory is descended from a long line of visual artists and musicians. He studied at the Academy of Art from which he received a BFA in Fine Art in 2005 and was recipient of two major awards given by the school. Brett began working on the painting series entitled “Waiting” in 2001. The series depicts the urban individual’s yearning for presence and the seeming impossibility of attaining it. The paintings portray commuters in transit immersed in either a quiet, even hopeful state or, alternately, an anguish of unfulfilled anticipation.

by Xavier Speeleveld

Ogilvy Paris  have come up with an innovative way to remind people to drink the recommended 8 glasses of water a day. Designed for Vittel, a french brand of bottled water, the ‘refresh cap’ is a bespoke topper that pops up a tiny red flag every hour to prompt you to take a sip. when you twist the bottle cap shut, a timer autonomously begins, counting down the minutes until your next notification. the device encourages people to stay hydrated throughout the day in a fun and engaging way, promoting good health through design.
